The castle was constructed by the Fugger merchant's family. It thrones on a porphyry rock at the entrance to the Sarentino Valley. A highlight are the oldest and most substantial secular fresco cycles dating back to the 13th
century. The frescos tell the love story of Tristan and Isolde and provide an insight into the life in the castle. Castle concerts are organised in the inner courtyard during the summer months, an inn provides food and drinks.
