Tires/Tiers

Tires al Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten

The village of Tires in the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park offers plenty of opportunities to get acquainted with King Laurin and his fascinating mountain world. Tires is located at the bottom of the Sciliar and Catinaccio Mountains amidst an unspoiled natural landscape.

The village itself is located on the right side of the valley at 1,028 metres above sea level. Tiers/Tires also includes the harbours St. Zyprian/S. Cipriano and Weisslahnbad/Lavina Bianca. The first signs of settlement date back to the Bronze Age. The village was first mentioned in an official document in 999 A.D. Due to the wonderful natural landscape, the village is a popular holiday destination. Winter and summer tourism play an important role. In the community area of Tires you can also find the highest forested hill in Europe.

Enjoy hiking or climbing tours by yourself or accompanied by a professional mountain guide. The interplay of colours at Catinaccio in the evening, which shimmers red in certain weather conditions, provides an unforgettable experience. We also recommend a hike to the Catinaccio Mountain from where you enjoy a breath-taking view of the Dolomites and the valley basin of Bolzano.
