Ciamin Valley - Grasleiten Hut and Tierser Alpl Hut

Difficulty:

Start:
S. Ciprian
Ziel:
Grasleiten Hut
You hike through the Ciamin Valley to Rechter Leger. On the small pasture you follow path no. 3 and hike up to the end of the valley - first slightly steep, later a little bit steeper. This is where the path divides: to the left the path leads to Bärenloch (bears' hole), to the right to Grasleiten Valley and to Grasleiten Hut. At this fork you cross the gravel bed of Tschaminbach River and follow path no. 3A with comfortable turns which first lead through a forest and then across a scree to the Grasleiten Valley. This ascent is a unique nature adventure, which will make you want to stop and enjoy again and again. You can see the narrow gorge at the bottom of Valbonkogel and to the south you see the mountain ridge dividing the Ciamin and the Grasleiten Valleys from the Purgametsch Valley behind the mountain. This is an easy and well sign-posted path. About 10 minutes below Grasleiten Hut you get to a rather exposed part, which can however be avoided easily. Exactly here you hike through a unique landscape of incomparable beauty.
Crossing of Molignon Pass: From Grasleiten Hut you continue your ascent into a stony glacier arena. This is where two valleys meet: the right valley starts at Grasleiten Pass and the left valley at Molignon Pass. To the left you find a long, steep passage to Tierser Alpl (possible to sleep in the hut). From here you can directly descend to Bärenloch (bears' hole) and to the Ciamin Valley.
