Empress Elisabeth Promenade
Duration:
1,5 h
Panorama:

Condition:

Difficulty:

Start:
Albergo Meierei
Ziel:
Albergo Meierei
After the two big turns on the road from the Eggental/Ega Valley to Karerpass/Passo di Costalunga you turn left onto a narrow asphalt road (sign-post "Simhild"). After a bit more than 1.5 km you reach the Meierei Guesthouse. Just before the barrier you park your car at the edge of the road and continue by foot.  The walking path leads along a beautiful narrow forest road and is almost flat. The path leads along the forest and is named after Empress Elisabeth. This path was established to remind of the holidays of the Empress from Austria and Hungary at Karerpass/Passo di Costalunga.
This panoramic path is very easy and can be done by anyone. On the entire length of the path you enjoy a fascinating view of the northern walls of the Latemar Group with their unmistakable towers and peaks. From Schönblick you reach the Pitschölerhof Hut in about 10 minutes and within only a few minutes you reach a group of houses with the Dritscher and Ladritscher farms. Not far away you'll also find a bench for having a rest and shortly afterwards a saw just below the path. This is an ideal spot to take pictures of these imposing rock formations.
After about 25 minutes walk you reach another barrier (1580 m), and after the next turn you have to leave the forest road and follow the sign-post "Elisabeth Promenade". This path leads through a short forest section and then onto a meadow with a memorial of Empress Elisabeth. Return along the same path.
If you have the possibility to have a second car parked in Welschnofen/Nova Levante, you can continue the promenade path to Welschnofen/Nova Levante (1182 m). From the memorial you take the well sign-posted forest path down to the valley of the Frommerbach River and then you hike along the river to Welschnofen/Nova Levante
